Domaine des Closiers
The “Domaine des Closiers” is located in Parnay, in the heart of the Saumur Champignyappellation. The “closiers” were the vine growers who worked in the vineyards and who lived in the troglodyte dwellings at the foot of the hill. The estate covers 24 hectares on clay-limestone soil. The vines are 35 years old on average. Set on the hillside of a limestone cliff overlooking the Loire, the plots of the estate express all the richness and nobility of the soil of SaumurChampigny.
The domain has been developing the biodiversity for a long time. In 2019, it began its conversion to organic wine (ecocert) under the supervision of Michel Chevré (Clos de l’écotard). Special attention is paid to tillage and vines.
Nady Foucault: (ex Clos Rougeard) acts as Advisor for the domain (exclusively) notably to supervize fermentation and aging..
